Join us in Atlanta for the first annual southeast regional Severe Weather Research Symposium that will serve as a focal point for the severe weather and related research being conducted across our region. We aim to bring together researchers at our local regional institutions and all career stages to showcase their excellent work and build new collaborations across our interconnected disciplines in the severe weather enterprise.

There will be no registration fee for the symposium. Registration is now open!

Session Format

The symposium will consist of two days of primarily oral talks. Participants should anticipate a 15-minute time slot that includes time for questions following the presentation. Depending on the number of submitted abstracts by topic, we may host concurrent sessions in each of our rooms or designate poster sessions for individual topics.

The GTRI conference center is located in Midtown, Atlanta with the Sonesta Select Atlanta Midtown Georgia Tech hotel nearby, as well as the Georgia Tech campus and Midtown restaurants, shops, and MARTA service accessible.

Getting There

Those visiting from out of state have multiple transportation options through the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL), which is a hub for multiple air carriers. The GTRI conference center can be accessed by car (rental or rideshare) via Interstate 85 and 14th Street.

The conference center can also be accessed via public transportation using either the Red line or the Gold line of the MARTA rail system.

Either exit the train at the Midtown station and transfer to the #14 Bus, or get off at the Arts Center station and cross the highway on foot to reach the venue.
